Another late war German jet design, the HE-162
was meant to be made from a minimum of strategic
materials and to be flown by pilots with a minimum
of training. There's some debate about whether any
of these "Volksjäger" fighters ever scored any successes
in the closing days of the war, but here we see a pair on
patrol over Lübeck, Germany near the Danish border.
This original painting was exhibited at the San Diego
Air & Space Museum, Sep 14, 2002-Jan 05, 2003.
